Apple has updated their Sketch design resources for iOS 11 beta!
“The Apple UI Design Resources include Photoshop, Sketch, and Adobe XD templates along with other UI materials for quickly designing iOS apps. The included resources are comprehensive and accurately depict the full range of UIKit controls, views and glyphs available to developers using the iOS SDK. They make it easier to understand how iOS apps are constructed and how to design apps that match the iOS design language. Included icon and glyph production files have been preconfigured to automate asset production using Sketch slices or Adobe Generator for Photoshop CC…”
Those who understand that “wear” is a verb, will succeed in wearables
Companies, that are showing early success in wearables, address wear as a verb and make it the guiding principle of the holistic user experience for their products. This is why Apple Watch is getting critical feedback lately about needing to move Apple Watch marketing away from fitness and go all-in on the luxury, style and work/productivity markets. Apple products don’t prioritize ‘wear’ as a verb, because Apple does not embrace a design philosophy that considers ‘wear and tear’. If they did, they’d design mobile and wearable products that survive real-world use vs. requiring a consumer to care for their devices as if they were a newborn baby. (more…)
Thanks to Mobile devices, 2016 may usher in a new wave of Stylus use among both professionals and consumers. The pressure sensitive stylus in far from new. However, the stylus as well as the range of software and devices that can now support them, has seen incredible growth. It used to be that Wacom was the big kid on the block, and their core users were primarily designers and 3D animators. Mobile hardware, more specifically tablets, have kicked off a new generation of stylus options for all skill levels. (more…)
While Apple CarPlay is interesting in that there will finally be an option to have true integration between an iPhone and “the built-in vehicle human machine interface“, I’ve always been leery of factory installed consumer technology hardware in automobiles.
